This will be the first meeting of the ferry transportation authority.
In July 2017, Gov. Roy Cooper signed the Senate Bill 391, An Act To Authorize The Creation Of A Ferry Transportation Authority, “to authorize creation of an Authority to provide reliable and safe public ferry transportation services in its service area.”
As a result of the bill, the once privately run ferry is now under the management of Brunswick County government.
