Cape Fear River Watch is bringing together experts on emerging contaminants for its monthly First Saturday Seminar.
The seminar, which will be via Zoom and Facebook Live, is from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, and will cover per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS. To participate via Zoom, registration is required before the program begins.
The nonprofit environmental group usually has one guest for the monthly seminars held the first Saturday of the month, but with an issue such as PFAS contamination, organizers said they decided to host several special guests to talk about PFAS, including GenX, from the health, policy and community impact perspectives.
Guests set to appear are toxicologist Dr. Jamie DeWitt, Clean Cape Fear’s Emily Donovan, Haw Riverkeeper Emily Sutton, North Carolina Black Alliance’s La’Meshia Whittington, and filmmaker Elijah Yetter-Bowman.
