
The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday that it will hold a public meeting for a proposed project to improve a section of New Hope Road in Perquimans County.
The meeting will be held 5-7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Durants Neck Fire Department, 1724 New Hope Road, in Hertford.

The project will upgrade the roadway on a 4.5-mile section between Woodland Church Road and Woodville Road to improve safety and efficiency. The proposed designs include widening lane widths, realigning substandard curves, and slight intersection realignments at Woodland Church Road, Gibson Road and Whitehat Road.
Project details and maps can be found on NCDOT’s project input website at publicinput.com/newhoperoad-hertford. The information will be available at the meeting allowing for one-on-one discussions with NCDOT staff, but there will be no formal presentation.
