
The restoration advisory board for the Buxton Naval Facility Formerly Used Defense Sites is to meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club in Buxton.
During the quarterly meeting this week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is expected to give an update on the current environmental restoration projects, and discuss community interest in continuing the restoration advisory board, or RAB, or adjourning it.
Supporter Spotlight
The advisory board is a stakeholder advisory group that meets regularly to discuss environmental restoration at Department of Defense sites, such as the Buxton Naval Facility FUDS property.
Army Corps has been removing petroleum-contaminated soil and infrastructure that remains at the oceanfront site once used by the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.
