State recreational water quality officials on Tuesday lifted a precautionary swimming advisory in Oak Island.
State recreational water quality officials had announced the advisory late Friday when stormwater from flooded streets and roads was being pumped onto the beach.
The advisory was lifted because flooding has since subsided and pumping ceased.
The N.C. Recreational Water Quality Program samples 215 sites in coastal waters of the state, most of them on a weekly basis from April through October.
