The North Carolina Coastal Federation, publisher of Coastal Review, is asking for volunteers to help to remove trash and debris at the Hoop Pole Creek Nature Preserve in Atlantic Beach.
This project is set for 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, and is part of the Coastal Federation’s broader effort to ensure the North Carolina coast is free of marine debris.
Supporter Spotlight
Organizers said volunteers should dress for a morning outdoors. Closed-toed shoes are required, and sturdy shoes for walking in wet areas are also recommended. Boots are appropriate if you choose to walk along the water’s edge. Trash bags, gloves and other cleanup materials will be provided.
Those younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The preserve is at Milepost 3.5 on N.C. Highway 58.
Organizers asked those who plan to attend to preregister so they can plan supplies accordingly.
