Arrgh you ready to paddle in search of treasure?
Cape Fear River Watch is offering to lead the hunt July 18 on an out-and-back paddle to Shark Tooth and Keg islands, undeveloped riverine islands where an abundance of shells and the namesake shark teeth are sure to shiver your timbers.

Participants must meet at River Road Park in Wilmington no later than 8 a.m. on the morning of the paddle. This event is weather-dependent and, if strong winds are a’blowin, paddlers may not complete a full circle around Keg Island.
Cape Fear River Watch has a limited number of single kayaks available to borrow. The organization suggests anyone who uses one of its kayaks to donate $25 for boat. Donations will include personal flotation devices, which must be worn by anyone who uses the organization’s kayaks, and paddles.
Those who prefer to borrow a kayak from Cape Fear River Watch should notify the organization when registering for the event.
To help Cape Fear River Watch continue to offer programs, including its paddle series, water quality programs, and educational seminars, those who plan to attend the July 18 paddle are asked to make a $10 minimum donation either online when registering or by bringing cash or check to the event.
Participants should check their emails the night before and the morning of the July 18 paddle to ensure the even has not been canceled.
