The public is welcome to bring a picnic and a fishing pole to Moores Creek National Battlefield during its community day 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24.
There is no charge for the event at the national park in Pender County.

Highlights include the new fishing area, New Hanover County Soil and Water, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, Pender County Parks and Recreation, Pender County Library, the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor and more.
Scheduled programs include guided tours of the battlefield at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., a children’s storywalk at 1 p.m. with Pender County Library, and at 2 pm. a special presentation by Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Executive Director Victoria Smalls.
The national battlefield is at 40 Patriots Hall Drive in Currie.
