The hazardous waste renewal permit public hearing for the Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City has been rescheduled for June 11 based on public health guidance to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The draft renewal operating permit allows the Coast Guard to store hazardous waste at a designated storage building and requires the Coast Guard Support Center to remediate contamination resulting from past waste management activities at the facility, according to the state Department of Environmental Quality.
The hearing will be in Courtroom C at the Pasquotank County Courthouse.
A new comment period will be announced later but comments may still be submitted at this time and will be considered along with any future comments.
