HERTFORD – Perquimans County commissioners denied on Monday a permit for construction of a planned $300 million wind farm, the Daily Advance of Elizabeth City reported.
A conditional-use permit for Clean Energy’s Timbermill Wind proposal was rejected in a 3-2 vote, with the majority citing concern over effects on adjoining property owners.
Apex Clean Energy was sought the permit to build a 105-turbine windfarm called Timbermill Wind on land that spans Perquimans and Chowan counties. The company won approval to build 48 turbines in Chowan County. Plans had called for 57 turbines in Perquimans County.
