The North Carolina Coastal Federation and Carteret County invite past and prospective volunteers to help protect a Cedar Island shoreline, one plant at a time.
Thirty volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 15 to help plant upland grasses and perennial flowers that will help protect the area from erosion and create wildlife habitat.
Supporter Spotlight
Volunteers will meet at the end of Mariners Village Lane by 10 a.m. and should wear weather-appropriate clothes that can get dirty. Closed-toed shoes that cover the foot are required. Volunteers should also bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses and any necessary medications. Snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, gloves and planting tools will be provided.
This event is limited to 30 people and registration is required.
