RALEIGH — The Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in-person in the Archdale Ground Floor Hearing Room.
The board was put in place in May 2018 to assist the Department of Environmental Quality “in achieving and maintaining the fair and equal treatment and meaningful involvement of North Carolinians regardless of where they live, their race, religion or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.”
The agenda for the Aug. 11 meeting is to be posted on the website, a DEQ representative told Coastal Review.
The public can attend in person or listen to the meeting online through WebEx. The meeting number is 2424 208 8665 and the password is NCDEQ. To listen by phone, call 1-415-655-0003 and use access code 242 420 88665.
The cumulative impacts subcommittee is to meet an hour before the board meeting.
DEQ defines cumulative impacts as those “environmental impacts resulting from incremental effects of an activity when added to other past, present, and reasonably foreseeable future activities regardless of what entities undertaken such other actions.”
A public comment period is set for 5 p.m. Aug. 11. Those wishing to speak may sign up at the meeting.
