State transportation officials have three career fairs scheduled to recruit temporary administrative associates to assist with new toll collection operations.
All taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the career fairs are planned for Tuesday at the Currituck Ferry Terminal, Wednesday at Hatteras Ferry Terminal and Thursday at Bayview Ferry Terminal in Bath.

The Ferry Division has multiple entry level positions open at multiple locations. Training is provided. Employees will work a seven-days-on, seven-days-off schedule.
The career fairs will give prospective employees an opportunity to learn more about the available positions and the experience of working for the Ferry Division.

The North Carolina General Assembly passed a state law this summer directing transportation officials to establish and begin collecting tolls on all ferry routes starting Jan. 1, 2027. Under the law, tolls will be required on the Currituck-Knotts Island, Bayview-Aurora, Hatteras-Ocracoke and Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach vehicle ferry routes. Tolls are already collected on the division’s other routes.
