PENDER COUNTY — Former county Republican Party Chairman Bob Muller was selected Tuesday to fill the House seat vacated by former Rep. Chris Millis, R-Pender, who resigned as of last week, the Wilmington StarNews reported.
Muller, the only person nominated for the job, was nominated by Millis.

According to state law, Muller’s nomination is sent to Gov. Roy Cooper for approval. Cooper has seven days to approve his appointment. A formality, if Gov. Cooper doesn’t approve Muller’s nomination within that time frame, it is assumed under state law that Muller’s nomination is confirmed.
The district could soon change, as districts approved by the N.C. General Assembly would see the district lose Onslow County and pick up a portion of Columbus County.
