RALEIGH – The North Carolina Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board announced Monday it has extended the period for the public to comment on a draft report that provides guidance on the starting point for setting water quality standards and calculating the health goal for GenX.
The board, which advises the state departments of Environmental Quality and Health and Human Services, prepared the draft report as the agencies work to address emerging compounds statewide.

The period for submitting public comments on the draft report began Aug. 30 and has now been extended through Oct. 12.
A copy of the report, research documents, presentations and audio recordings of past board meeting discussions are available online.
Public comments may be submitted by email to Comments.SABReport@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “GenX Report” in the email’s subject line. Comments may also be submitted by mail to NCDEQ, Attn: Louise Hughes, 1601 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C. 27699-1601. All comments received by the Oct. 12 closing date will be considered in finalizing the report.
