Pamlico Sound ferry routes between the mainland and Ocracoke returned to a full schedule Wednesday after being reduced to two runs for most of this month because of shoaling in the ferry channel outside Ocracoke Harbor.
A test run with the M/V Swan Quarter Tuesday showed that the Army Corps of Engineers’ dredging efforts opened ferry channel depths and widths in Bigfoot Slough, allowing safe passage for all of the state’s ferries, officials with the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division said Tuesday.
