DARE COUNTY — Permits to reenter the county can now be obtained online and Dare County Emergency Management recommends applying now for the 2019 permit.
The online permit can be applied for at any time, but the county agency recommends getting the reentry permit as early as possible, before an emergency situation, to allow time for questions or concerns.

The permits will be emailed as Adobe PDF files from reentry@darenc.com. Once issued, permits expire at the end of the calendar year.
No changes were made to reentry priorities, but permits from previous years will no longer be accepted.
Following a mandatory evacuation order, the Dare County Control Group will establish reentry priorities details, which will be immediately available on the Dare County website and through the Dare County Alert and Notification System. To receive alerts, subscribe at DareNC.com/alerts.
To reenter, permit holders will need a printed copy of their permit displayed in plain view on the left side of their dashboard before reaching traffic control point or have it available for display on a mobile device as well as their matching driver’s license or identification.
After reentry, permit holders will need to have their permit and matching identification available for inspection at checkpoints throughout the county.
