New rules will go into effect Monday implement Amendment 2 to the Striped Mullet Fishery Management Plan.
The commercial weekend closures are scheduled for 11:59 p.m. Friday to 12:01 a.m. Monday between Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, and 11:59 p.m. Friday to 12:01 a.m. Tuesday between Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.

The recreational possession limits include an individual bag limit of 100 fish, a recreational vessel limit of 400 fish, and an exception for for-hire vessel operations to possess a bag limit for the number of anglers fishing up to the 400-fish maximum, including in advance of a trip.
Division of Marine Fisheries officials said Thursday that the commercial weekend closures and recreational possession limits for striped mullet were included in the amendment that the Marine Fisheries Commission adopted in May.
