The North Carolina Public Commission for the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission is to meet 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, during the 2024 North Carolina Rice Festival in Brunswick County.
The meeting in the WWAY TV Studio Community Room, 1224 Magnolia Village Way, Leland, is open to the public and will be streamed online.

The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, a National Heritage Area managed by the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission, is working to preserve, share and interpret the history, traditional cultural practices, heritage sites, and natural resources associated with Gullah Geechee people of coastal North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, according to the website.
The North Carolina Rice Festival, which includes several events at different locations Friday through Sunday, welcomes visitors, history enthusiasts, tourists, and residents to the Brunswick County area to learn about and celebrate the region’s rich and diverse cultural history of rice farming.
During the commission meeting Friday, the public and organizations are welcome to share projects, programs, ideas, and issues of concern relating to North Carolina’s Gullah Geechee communities and heritage during the meeting.
