There is a special meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday for Brunswick County Board of Commissioners to hear more on an unsolicited proposal to replace Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will give a presentation on the unsolicited proposal for a public-private partnership to replace the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge with a toll bridge.

The public can attend the meeting in-person on the first floor of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia. The agenda and accompanying documents are available on the county website.
The Department of Transportation received the unsolicited proposal in late 2020 and as by law, any toll projects in the state must be approved by the local planning
organization. Then presented the company’s concept in May and June to the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
NCDOT would only move forward if the planning organization approves the approach. If that happens, NCDOT and the organization would partner in all future steps. If the organization decides not to move forward, NCDOT will deny the unsolicited proposal and no further action will take place, according to documents.
