The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries is holding at 6 p.m. May 18 a public hearing by web conference on proposed shellfish leases in Pender County.
The following are the proposed leases:

- James T. Perryman III has applied for a 2.87-acre water column lease above an existing shellfish bottom lease in Seaside Areas near Topsail Sound.
- Ghost Fleet Oyster Co., LLC has applied for a 0.90-acre shellfish bottom lease in Banks Channel and a 0.74-acre shellfish bottom and water column lease in Seaside Areas near Nixon’s Channel. Thomas Faison is agent for both.
- NorthBay Oyster Co., LLC has applied for a 5.77-acre shellfish bottom and water column lease in Bank’s Channel. William Simmons is agent.
The public may participate in the hearing online or by telephone. To speak during the meeting, register online by 4 p.m. May 17.
