The Coastal Environmental Partnership, the waste management authority for Carteret, Craven and Pamlico counties, announced Friday dates for hazardous waste collection events.
Materials will be collected 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Carteret County Health Department at 3820 Bridges St. in Morehead City; 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 13 at the Pamlico County Courthouse on N.C. 55 in Bayboro; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 13 at parking lot E near Oringer Auditorium on the campus of Craven Community College, 800 College Court, in New Bern.

The Saturday events are for residents to drop off non-commercial hazardous waste. Materials accepted include the following:
- Latex and oil paints.
- Used motor oil.
- Farm pesticides.
- Gasoline.
- Drain openers.
- Paint thinners.
- Cooking oil.
- Antifreeze.
In addition to commercial waste, items not accepted include gas cylinders, explosives, ammunition and infectious, biological and radioactive waste.
The partnership noted that electronic waste is accepted year-round in all three counties.
