PENDER COUNTY – Rep. Chris Millis, R-Pender, announced Friday his plans to resign from office. In his third term, Millis serves Pender and Onslow counties.
In his announcement, Millis stated, ” … effective on September 15th of 2017, I will resign my occupancy of the State House seat that belongs to the people of the 16th District. My resignation is solely based on my need to be with my family more often and has nothing to do with any other assumptions that individuals may want to manufacture.”

Millis said in his announcement that it has been an honor to represent the 16th District in the North Carolina House. While in office, he continued, his priority was “to refocus government on its proper role and to limit it to its intended purpose, so we as individuals can have the greatest opportunity to be free and pursue our own interests.”
He continued that, “It has always been my desire to effectively serve and then step away at the proper time. For me and my family, now is that time.”
