Photographer Jody Merritt captured this image, “Guarding the Nest,” July 6 on Bogue Sound in Morehead City.

“I have a friend that lives on Bogue sound and he told me there was an Osprey nest at his house. When I got there I found the nest had ben built on the roof of his boat. Right now it looks like he has lost the use of his boat for the most of the summer.,” Jody said in his submission.
