The public can joint two fisheries committees Monday, Feb. 19, to hear an update on the public relations campaign for a state-funded commercial fishing awareness program.
The presentation on key findings of a recent polling campaign for Always NC Fresh is to be held at 10 a.m. in the Division of Marine Fisheries Central District Office in Morehead City.

The Marine Fisheries Commission Commercial Fishing Resource Funding Committee and funding committee for the North Carolina Commercial Fishing Resource Fund awarded an $800,000 grant in 2021 to Raleigh-based Blue Red Marketing and S&A Cherokee in Cary.
The two marketing firms were tasked with building brand awareness, strengthening engagement with the public, and demonstrating the value of North Carolina commercial fishermen and the commercial fishing industry to the economy of the state and coastal communities, officials said.
The informal presentation is an opportunity for members of the two committees to hear an update from the contractors on the public relations campaign.
No committee votes will be taken, and no other committee issues will be discussed during the informal presentation, which officials said would be recorded and posted to the Division of Marine Fisheries’ website after the event.
