The event kicks off with a full day of guided hikes for everyone and kiosk building for Task Force Leaders, followed by excursions, meetings and celebrations through the weekend. The group is partnering with the Department of Recreation and Wellness at North Carolina Central University in hosting this year’s meeting.
Hikes, excursions and trail workdays are planned across Durham, Orange and Wake counties.
The Mountains-to-Sea Trail is a footpath stretching almost 1,200 miles across North Carolina from Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains to Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks.
The annual meeting is where the Friends membership gathers together to learn about the trail, spend time with each other and celebrate the trail community. While this is a membership-based event, all with an interest in the trail are welcome to join and attend.
