The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries is hosting at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 an online public hearing on a proposed shellfish lease in New Hanover County.
Kimberly Watters and Stephen Boyette have applied for a 0.55-acre bottom lease in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, near the mainland, Middle Sound area.
The public may participate in the hearing online or by telephone. To facilitate comments, the division is asking those who wish to speak during the meeting to pre-register online by 4 p.m. Jan. 4.

Also, the public may comment on the proposed shellfish leases in writing. Written comments will be accepted until 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 and may be submitted through an online form available online or mailed to N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries, Shellfish Leases, P.O. Box 769, Morehead City, NC 28557.
