Work can begin late summer on preserving the 50-year-old South Banks Channel Bridge in Wrightsville Beach.
North Carolina Department of Transportation awarded a contract of $3.7 million Coastal Gunite Construction Co. in Maryland to preserve the bridge.
The bridge on Causeway Drive over the Banks Channel was built in 1972. Work to preserve it can begin as early as mid-September and is expected to be complete in the fall of 2022.
