A Pew Foundation representative will address the committee during the meeting regarding her thoughts and suggestions for promoting the Coastal Habitat Protection Plan and involving stakeholders in the process and the implementation of the plan.
Committee members will also discuss the 2021 Coastal Habitat Protection Plan Revision and hear a presentation on the water quality section in the North Carolina Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan.

The state Coastal Habitat Protection Plan, a result of the North Carolina’s Fisheries Reform Act passed by the General Assembly in 1997, addresses habitat and water quality efforts needed to protect, enhance and restore fish habitat in North Carolina. The committee, made up of two commissioners from Marine Fisheries, Coastal Management and Environmental Management commissions, reviews and approves the plan, recommendations and implementation actions.
