RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Secretary’s Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board is set to hold its first meeting of 2020 later this month.
The meeting will take place 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Rural Economic Development Center, 4021 Carya Drive, Raleigh.

The agenda includes updates on NCDEQ’s permitting process, climate risk assessment and resiliency plan development and the 2020 Census. A public comment period will begin at 4 p.m. following the conclusion of agenda items.
The board was formed in 2018 to assist the department in achieving and maintaining the fair and equal treatment and meaningful involvement of North Carolinians regardless of race, color, national origin or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
The board’s 16 members were selected from across North Carolina and represent the diverse cultures of the state.
