NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Orrin H. Pilkey and Gilbert M. Gaul will be making two stops here on their book tour, “Old Men and the Sea,” later this month.
Pilkey, co-author of “Sea Level Rise: A Slow Tsunami on America’s Shores,” and Gaul, author of “The Geography of Risk: Epic Storms, Rising Seas and the Costs of America’s Coasts will discuss these recent publications at North Carolina Coastal Federation’s Wrightsville Beach office at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the New Hanover County Public Library Pine Valley Branch, 3802 S. College Road, Wilmington.

Pilkey, 84, is the James B. Duke Professor Emeritus of Geology at Duke University and the author and coauthor of numerous books. His work focuses on both basic and applied coastal geology.
Gaul, 68, has won the Pulitzer Prize twice and been a finalist four additional times. For more than 35 years, he was an investigative journalist for The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and other newspapers.
