Volunteers with the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors plant seedlings to help restore salt marsh habitat as part of a living shoreline project at Carolina Beach State Park. The association organized the effort that also included removing about 150 pounds of garbage and marine debris from the shoreline in partnership with the N.C. Coastal Federation, which provided the marsh grass, tools and training for the two dozen volunteers on site. In addition to 1,750 plantings at the park, the project included about 580 Realtors who planted 15,000 sea oats at Topsail Beach, Wrightsville Beach, and Carolina Beach, cleaned up eight New Hanover County parks, and installed a community garden at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington.
