‘Swimming Lessons’

Photographer Terri Chabot captured this image, “Swimming Lessons,” Oct. 24 at Kure Beach Pier.

“In the cooler months, dolphins are seen more frequently off the coast of Kure Beach,” Terri said in her submission. “Most times, they are too far out to capture with a typical lens. Last weekend, I was blessed to see a small pod traveling closer to shore at the tip of Kure Beach Pier. Although still quite far out, I was able to capture a couple of worthy shots before they headed even further out to open ocean. Upon seeing the pictures on a larger screen, I was thrilled to see a small calf sticking very close to Mom. It looked as though it was being given swimming lessons.”
