The North Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen announced Thursday that it is on the hunt for a new town manager.
Town officials did not specify the reason for Town Manager Alice Derian’s resignation, only that her last day as head of the town’s administrative operations will be June 1.

“The Town has already begun the process of hiring both an interim and full-time manager,” Mayor Richard Grant stated in a release. “We will be interviewing interim candidates this week and have begun the process of recruiting a permanent placement. Ms. Derian will continue in her role for the foreseeable future to ensure a smooth transition.”
Derian was appointed North Topsail Beach town manager in October 2021. According to the town’s website, Derian has more than 20 years of experience in local government.
The town board is “working closely” with the North Carolina League of Municipalities in its search for an interim manager, “to step in and ensure the continuation of smooth operations while the Board focuses on finding a permanent candidate to fill the role of Town Manager,” according to a release. “The Board of Aldermen will provide additional information regarding interim leadership and the process for selecting the next town manager at a later time.”
