A long-operating, family-owned motel in the heart of Ocracoke was sold at an auction earlier this week.
The Silver Lake Motel & Inn and former Jolly Roger Pub & Marine sold July 29 for $4.1 million to Greenville-based property management company ABC Family, LLC, according to a report in the Ocracoke Observer.

Dewey Dunn, Country Boys Auction & Realty Inc.’s vice president of real estate and marketing, told the Observer that the property was sold to a regional, family-owned group, one, he emphasized, that would uphold the island’s character and community values.
Dunn told the publication that the new owners plan to overhaul the motel and inn by bringing new infrastructure and amenities and restoring the Jolly Roger to its former charm.
The motel and inn remain in full operation.
