EnergizeNC in April 2024 was awarded $156 million from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to expand access to residential and community solar in low-income and disadvantaged communities in the state. The aim of the program is to lower energy costs for participating residents, create jobs, and provide access to reliable, affordable energy to families.
The coalition anticipates launching services to households later this year.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s State Energy Office, in collaboration with the NC Clean Energy Technology Center, the NC Clean Energy Fund, and Advanced Energy, lead the coalition.
