The local advisory committees that help guide how the North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve program manages its 10 sites are scheduled to meet in November.
The advisory committees made up of volunteers and representatives of community and government groups provide the Division of Coastal Management’s Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve staff with guidance and feedback regarding program activities and management of the reserve sites. The reserve program created in 1989 has preserved more than 44,000 acres of unique coastal environments at 10 sites along the coast.
