Gov. Roy Cooper signed Executive Order 246 “North Carolina’s Transformation to a Clean, Equitable Economy” in January of this year directing the state to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions, advance environmental justice and create good paying jobs for North Carolinians throughout the state.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has been tasked as part of the executive order to create a North Carolina Clean Transportation Plan by April 2023. The plan aims to collaborate with stakeholders to recommend strategies to reduce greenhouse gasses in the transportation sector, according to the state.
The webinar is to open with remarks by Cooper and state Transportation Secretary Eric Boyette, followed by department staff and others who are to give an overview of the Clean Transportation Plan process and introduce stakeholders to work groups the department has established to co-create plan recommendations.
Attendees are to be provided with different ways to engage in the Clean Transportation Plan process and offer input during the the process.
