Croatan National Forest is hosting a Kid’s Fishing Day 9 a.m. June 12 at the Cedar Swamp Pond Area on Hibbs Road near Newport to celebrate National Fish and Boating Week.
The annual event allows ages 16 years and younger to fish for free. Participants can register upon arrival. To reach Cedar Swamp Pond, once on Hibbs Road turn onto Transfer Station Road, and then left at the white gate.

No fishing license is required at this event and no experience is needed to participate in the family-focused event.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment because supplies are limited. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
