The Hatteras-Ocracoke route and Bayview-Aurora route schedules will be adjusted starting Tuesday, the North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
The Hatteras-Ocracoke route will be switching to the regular off-season schedule. The change reduces the number of daily departures on each side of the route from 26 to 18.

The following is the Hatteras-Ocracoke schedule beginning Tuesday:
- From Hatteras: 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight.
- From Ocracoke: 4:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:45 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and midnight.
Motorists wishing to access Ocracoke can also use the Swan Quarter and Cedar Island routes, which accept reservations online at www.ncferry.org or by telephone at 1-800-BY-FERRY.
On the Bayview-Aurora route crossing the Pamlico River, the ferry division will reinstate midday departures, which were suspended in March due to COVID-19 related reductions in demand. The change will increase the number of daily departures on each side of the route from six to seven.
The following is the Bayview-Aurora schedule starting Tuesday:
- From Bayview: 5:45 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:40 p.m.
