After months of closure to replace the aging cable-counterweight ramp system at both ends of the route, the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry route is set to resume service at 1 p.m. Friday.
The $3 million project that began Jan. 6, replaced the old system with an updated hydraulic ramp system.
