NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH – The North Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen on Wednesday agreed to offer the interim town manager the position full-time.
After meeting in closed session at the end of a special-called meeting, the board unanimously approved entering into contract negotiations to hire David Gilbride.

The board directed the town’s attorney to work with Gilbride to form a contract, Town Clerk Laura Oxley said in an email.
“I believe it is Mr. Gildbride’s intent to accept, provided that he and the Town can mutually agree upon the terms,” Oxley said.
Gilbride signed on as town’s interim manager March 20 after former manager Bryan Chadwick accepted a job earlier that month as town manager of Newport.
Chadwick had been North Topsail Beach’s manager since July 2018.
Board members also discussed whether to implement paid parking within the town. The board did not make a decision on the matter.
