The folks at Hammocks Beach State Park shared Tuesday this photo of the sun rising over the park in Swansboro.
Rangers are offering a chance to see the park after the sun sets with two special programs. There is a Lunar Eclipse Night Hike starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, along the half-mile nature trail. Visitors can explore the park after-dark and learn about the supermoon and lunar eclipse. A ranger will also take visitors on a trek to hear Night Sounds 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, where they can learn to distinguish the sounds of the night.
