‘Storm Front at the Cape’

Joel Elliott of Hillsborough submitted this image of weather approaching the cape. Elliott was in a 15-foot Boston Whaler and sought safety at Barden Inlet, just inside Lookout Bight, as the storm approached. The Newport office of the National Weather Service reported that winds in the area exceeded about 33 mph, but the storm appeared more intense, Elliott said, whipping up the “highest winds I’ve ever experienced.”
